StarCraft: Echoes of Koprulu is an independent, fan-made, illustrated science-fiction novel currently being developed at New Format. Its story explores forgotten secrets, fractured loyalties and the lasting consequences of war—without revealing its biggest mysteries just yet.
A New Story Inspired by the StarCraft Universe
The StarCraft universe has always been more than a battlefield. Behind its conflicts between Terrans, Protoss and Zerg lies a galaxy shaped by ambition, sacrifice, political intrigue and survival. Echoes of Koprulu explores that atmosphere from a more personal perspective, following individuals and forgotten histories in the shadows of interstellar conflict.
What Is Echoes of Koprulu About?
The story unfolds in the troubled Koprulu Sector, where the aftermath of earlier wars still shapes the present. A mystery surrounding Erebos-9 raises questions that reach beyond one world. The characters Jalen Ors, Lys Ardan and Vek Tiran bring distinct perspectives to a galaxy where trust is fragile and memory and truth may not be what they seem.
The Terran Dominion's political and military influence and the mysterious presence of the Protoss form part of this wider setting. Rather than spoil the central revelations, this preview offers only a glimpse of the people, places and questions that drive the novel.
A Darker, Character-Driven Science-Fiction Experience
Our creative approach combines military science fiction, exploration, psychological tension, mystery and character-driven drama. Alongside starships and dangerous missions, the novel focuses on the personal consequences of extraordinary events: moral choices, divided loyalties and the costs of survival.
Readers can expect atmospheric worldbuilding and cinematic settings, with new characters and conflicts developed to stand on their own within a familiar science-fiction universe.
Volume I: Awakening
The opening volume, Awakening, lays the foundations for the larger Echoes of Koprulu story. Erebos-9, the frigate Resolute and tensions surrounding the Terran Dominion establish the setting for an unfolding mystery. The novel's turning points, hidden connections and character fates remain deliberately undisclosed.
An Illustrated Novel in Development
Echoes of Koprulu is being developed as both a written narrative and an illustrated reading experience. The project combines prose with original atmospheric artwork, thematic backgrounds, distinctive chapter styling and cinematic visual storytelling. The manuscript remains a work in progress: its final page count, design and contents may evolve during editing.
A Creative Tribute by Fans
StarCraft has inspired generations of gamers, artists and storytellers. Echoes of Koprulu is our independent creative tribute to that legacy, exploring themes of power, identity, loyalty and the consequences of conflict through a new story.
This is an unofficial fan-fiction project and not an officially licensed Blizzard Entertainment novel. StarCraft and its associated universe are the property of Blizzard Entertainment. The original characters and story concepts are being developed independently as part of New Format's creative projects.
