🎮 PLAYSTATION STATE OF PLAY — SEPTEMBER 3, 2026

🔴 What is officially confirmed?
Sony has officially announced that State of Play returns on Thursday, September 3, 2026.
The interesting part is that this is actually two showcases back-to-back.
🕒 State of Play
September 3 — 15:00 CEST
It will feature:
PlayStation Studios titles
third-party games
new announcements
updates on previously announced games
gameplay reveals
trailers
And most importantly:
⭐ Final Fantasy VII Revelation
Sony has confirmed that the show will end with an extended look at Final Fantasy VII Revelation.
⭐ FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION
This is the only game officially confirmed for the showcase so far.
The presentation is expected to be significantly more substantial than a standard trailer because Sony specifically describes it as an extended look.
Potentially:
new gameplay
new locations
characters
combat
story details
exploration
release information
possibly a release window or date
Confidence:
100%
This is almost certainly going to be one of the biggest segments of the entire presentation.
🇯🇵 STATE OF PLAY JAPAN
Immediately after the first State of Play, Sony will host a second presentation focused on:
games from studios in Japan and Asia.
That makes this particularly interesting because the second show could contain announcements that wouldn’t necessarily fit into the main PlayStation showcase.
Potential candidates include:
Japanese RPGs
Capcom titles
SEGA/Atlus projects
Bandai Namco games
Square Enix projects
action games
new Japanese/Asian IPs
And potentially one major surprise announcement.
🐺 INTERGALACTIC: THE HERETIC PROPHET
One of the biggest questions surrounding September 3.
Naughty Dog’s next major project has remained largely mysterious since its announcement.
The timing is interesting because Naughty Dog recently announced that motion-capture recording has been completed.
That immediately triggered speculation that Sony could finally show:
Intergalactic gameplay.
If it happens, this could easily become the biggest PlayStation Studios moment of the show.
However, there is currently no official confirmation that Intergalactic will appear.
My estimate:
45–55%
If Sony shows it, I’d expect:
first substantial gameplay
combat
exploration
protagonist Jordan A. Mun
new characters
more information about the sci-fi setting
potentially a 2027 release window
⚔️ GOD OF WAR: LAUFEY
Another major possibility.
God of War: Laufey was previously revealed as one of Sony’s major upcoming projects.
A September showcase would be a logical opportunity for:
a new trailer
gameplay
story information
combat details
release window
pre-orders / editions
My estimate:
60–70%
If Intergalactic doesn’t appear, God of War: Laufey could potentially become the biggest PlayStation Studios reveal.
🧟 MARVEL’S WOLVERINE
Marvel’s Wolverine is much closer to release than most of the games above.
With its launch approaching, Sony could use State of Play for:
launch trailer
final gameplay
story trailer
character reveal
final marketing push
However, PlayStation has already released substantial information about the game recently.
My estimate:
50–60%
I’d expect a shorter marketing-focused appearance rather than another enormous gameplay presentation.
🧟♂️ KENA: SCARS OF KOSMORA
Another title being discussed by the community.
Possible appearance:
new trailer
gameplay
release date
delay/update
There is currently no reliable confirmation that it will appear.
My estimate:
45–55%
⚔️ ONIMUSHA: WAY OF THE SWORD
This one becomes significantly more interesting for State of Play Japan.
Capcom has been actively promoting Onimusha: Way of the Sword, making another appearance very plausible.
Possible material:
gameplay
story
characters
combat
launch information
My estimate:
70–80% for State of Play Japan
✈️ ACE COMBAT 8
Another strong Japanese-show candidate.
Potentially:
new trailer
gameplay
story
multiplayer information
release details
My estimate:
50–60%
🗡️ PHANTOM BLADE ZERO
A natural candidate for the Japan/Asia showcase.
However, the game has already received significant PlayStation coverage, so another major segment isn’t guaranteed.
Possible appearance:
new gameplay
release information
new trailer
My estimate:
40–50%
🧬 RESIDENT EVIL
Capcom is an obvious candidate for the Japanese showcase.
However, we currently do not have reliable evidence confirming a Resident Evil announcement for September 3.
Possible scenarios include:
new Resident Evil information
DLC
update
new project
But this is currently speculation.
My estimate:
25–35%
🩸 BLOODBORNE
And now we enter the dangerous territory.
The internet will inevitably mention:
Bloodborne Remake
Bloodborne Remaster
Bloodborne PS5
Bloodborne PC
But at the moment there is no credible confirmation that Sony is preparing a Bloodborne announcement for September 3.
The community continues to speculate because Sony still hasn’t provided a modern version of the game.
My estimate:
5–10%
In other words:
Don’t expect it.
If it happens, however, it would probably be the biggest reaction-generating announcement of the entire event.
🕷️ SPIDER-MAN / VENOM
There are also rumours surrounding:
Marvel’s Spider-Man 3
Venom
another Insomniac project
But these currently have very weak evidence connecting them specifically to September 3.
My estimate:
<10%
🏴☠️ UNCHARTED 5
Another classic PlayStation rumour.
There is currently no solid evidence that Naughty Dog is about to announce Uncharted 5.
If Naughty Dog appears, Intergalactic is considerably more plausible.
My estimate:
<10%
🚗 GTA VI
This is an interesting wildcard.
There is always speculation whenever PlayStation announces a major showcase, particularly because GTA VI is one of the biggest games in the industry.
Possible material could theoretically include:
new trailer
PlayStation 5 information
technical features
PS5 Pro information
But Rockstar doesn’t need State of Play to reveal GTA VI information.
My estimate:
20–30%
If Rockstar actually appeared, it would instantly become one of the biggest gaming announcements of the year.

🚨 THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION
The really interesting thing isn’t actually what people are predicting.
It’s:
Which leaks have evidence behind them?
That’s where the Mega Leak Tracker comes in.
For the next step, I’d structure it like this:
SOURCE → CLAIM → ORIGINAL DATE → WHAT THEY ACTUALLY SAID → TRACK RECORD → CORROBORATION → CONTRADICTIONS → CURRENT STATUS → PROBABILITY
And separate everything into:
🟢 Confirmed
🟢 Strong leak
🟡 Credible insider
🟡 Unverified leak
🟠 Rumour
🔴 Fake / debunked
⚪ Fan prediction
That will let us distinguish actual leaks from the huge amount of Twitter/Reddit speculation surrounding September 3.
