🐉 GAME OF THRONES: WAR FOR WESTEROS — THE BATTLE FOR THE SEVEN KINGDOMS BEGINS AT GAMESCOM 2026

Game of Thrones: War for Westeros received its first major gameplay trailer during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, giving fans a much closer look at the upcoming real-time strategy game.
Developed by PlaySide Studios, the game brings the world of Game of Thrones into a large-scale RTS experience where players can fight for control of Westeros.
⚔️ CHOOSE YOUR SIDE
Players will be able to command some of the most powerful factions in the Game of Thrones universe.
The game features major forces including:
🐺 House Stark
🦁 House Lannister
🐉 House Targaryen
💀 The Night King
Each faction has its own armies, heroes and strategic strengths.
🐉 DRAGONS, ARMIES AND GIANTS
The Gamescom gameplay footage demonstrates the scale of the battles.
Players can command different types of forces, including:
⚔️ Infantry
🏹 Ranged units
🐎 Cavalry
🐉 Dragons
🗿 Giants
👑 Legendary characters
This isn’t simply a traditional army-versus-army RTS. The different factions are designed around their unique abilities and units.
👑 ICONIC CHARACTERS RETURN
The game features familiar characters from the Game of Thrones universe, including characters such as:
Jon Snow, Jaime Lannister and Daenerys Targaryen.
These heroes can play an important role on the battlefield and give players access to unique abilities.
🗺️ REWRITE THE FATE OF WESTEROS
One of the most interesting ideas behind War for Westeros is that players aren’t necessarily locked into the events of the television series.
The game allows players to create their own version of the conflict.
Imagine:
🐺 Stark armies defeating the Lannisters
🦁 Lannister forces conquering the North
🐉 Targaryen dragons dominating Westeros
💀 The Night King overwhelming the Seven Kingdoms
The battlefield can tell a completely different story.
🎮 SINGLE-PLAYER & MULTIPLAYER
War for Westeros is being designed around both single-player and multiplayer experiences.
Players will be able to participate in strategic campaigns as well as battles against other players.
The multiplayer component could become one of the game’s biggest attractions, particularly because different factions have radically different military capabilities.
🔥 THE FIRST GAMEPLAY TRAILER
The Gamescom trailer is particularly important because it is the first gameplay trailer for the upcoming RTS.
Instead of simply showing cinematic footage, the presentation focuses on actual gameplay and demonstrates the scale of the battles.
It gives players a first look at how the Game of Thrones universe translates into real-time strategy.
🧠 STRATEGY WILL BE EVERYTHING
Winning won’t simply be about having the biggest army.
Players will need to manage:
🏰 Territory
⚔️ Military units
👑 Heroes
🐉 Special units
🗺️ Strategic positioning
💰 Resources
🤝 Alliances
The combination of familiar Game of Thrones politics and RTS mechanics could make every campaign play differently.
