Excerpt: More than 1,100 exhibitors, 53 countries and regions, 257,642 visitors and thousands of business meetings show the scale behind TGS.
Tokyo Game Show’s global reach is easy to see in the headline numbers. CESA reported 1,138 exhibiting companies and organisations from 53 countries and regions at the 2026 event. Across the four in-person days, 257,642 people visited. The organiser also reported 3,673 business meetings through its matchmaking system, a record for that platform.
The visitor total is the number that captures the public imagination. But the business figure offers another way to understand the show. TGS is not only a place to preview games; it is a working environment where developers, publishers and other industry participants can meet. A game’s journey from an idea to an audience involves many people and decisions that do not appear in a trailer. Events can put those conversations in the same room.
The exhibitor count also reflects how far the games business now extends beyond one platform or format. CESA described displays spanning console, smart devices, PC and VR, together with products, services, solutions and merchandise. That range points to an industry built around connected experiences: hardware and software, play and streaming, development and distribution, game worlds and the objects fans carry into everyday life.
The online programme widened that reach further. The organiser said 25 official programmes were distributed across several services, with partners including IGN for Western audiences and DouYu and bilibili for China. The show therefore had a physical centre in Makuhari, but its audience was not limited to those who passed through the doors.
These numbers should not be mistaken for a measure of which games will succeed. They do show that TGS remains a meeting point for a large, international ecosystem. Its impact is found both in the public energy of the exhibition halls and in the work of connecting people and projects across borders.
