👁️ PERCEPTUM — A NEW PSYCHOLOGICAL HORROR EXPERIENCE AT GAMESCOM 2026

I checked the current NewFormat blog again. The titles through Genigods: Nezha are now published, and the next title from the Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live lineup that is not yet on NewFormat is Perceptum.
🏚️ SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THIS HOUSE
Perceptum is a first-person psychological horror game from Duck Reaction.
You play as a medium investigating the disappearance of a family shortly after they moved into a new house.
At first, the house appears normal.
But the deeper you go, the less you can trust what you see and hear.
👁️ YOUR PERCEPTION IS YOUR BIGGEST ENEMY
The central idea behind Perceptum is that your senses cannot always be trusted.
The game uses several unusual mechanics:
👁️ Explore the house
🪞 Use a mirror to see things that aren’t normally visible
🙈 Close your eyes to hear the supernatural
🧩 Solve environmental puzzles
🔎 Investigate the family’s disappearance
🚪 Explore increasingly disturbing rooms
🧠 Question what is real
The developers are deliberately playing with the player’s perception rather than simply throwing monsters at them.
🪞 THE MIRROR
One of the most interesting mechanics shown in the Gamescom trailer is the mirror.
It can reveal things that are hidden from normal vision.
That means the player may need to look at the environment in completely different ways to understand what’s actually happening.
🙈 CLOSE YOUR EYES
Perhaps the strangest mechanic is the ability to close your eyes.
This isn’t simply an animation.
Closing your eyes allows the protagonist to hear the supernatural world, potentially revealing information that cannot be discovered through sight alone.
So the game effectively asks you to choose:
SEE 👁️
or
HEAR 👂
Sometimes you may need to do both to understand what is happening.
🏠 THE HOUSE IS THE HORROR
The entire experience revolves around the mysterious house.
Familiar rooms gradually become unsettling.
Hallways seem wrong.
Silence becomes oppressive.
And the player begins to question whether what they’re seeing is actually happening.
The developers describe the experience as approximately 4–5 hours long, making it a relatively compact psychological horror adventure.
🧩 INVESTIGATE THE DISAPPEARANCE
The family has vanished.
The police have failed to uncover what happened.
The protagonist enters the house as a medium and becomes the last person capable of discovering the truth.
The investigation gradually turns into something much more disturbing.
🎬 GAMESCOM 2026 REVEAL
Perceptum appeared during the Opening Night Live pre-show on August 25, 2026.
The new trailer revealed the game’s concept and confirmed its release window.
📅 RELEASE
SPRING 2027
Perceptum is planned for:
🖥️ PC
🎮 PlayStation 5
🎮 Xbox Series X|S
The developers have not yet announced an exact release date.
🔥 WHY PERCEPTUM IS WORTH WATCHING
The game has a particularly interesting horror formula:
👁️ PERCEPTION + 🪞 MIRRORS + 🙈 CLOSED EYES + 👻 SUPERNATURAL INVESTIGATION
Instead of relying entirely on combat, Perceptum is built around atmosphere, exploration, puzzles and psychological tension.
👁️ WHAT YOU SEE MAY NOT BE REAL.
A missing family.
An empty house.
A medium searching for answers.
And something waiting just outside your field of vision.
PERCEPTUM
🪞 Look into the mirror.
🙈 Close your eyes.
👂 Listen to the unseen.
🏚️ Discover what happened.
Coming Spring 2027.
