GAMESCOM 2026 — DAY 4 UPDATE 7 PM

Saturday, August 29 — The Cosplay Contest Takes Centre Stage

Cologne, Germany — 7:15 PM CEST

Gamescom 2026 Day 4 is now entering its final hour.

Since our previous afternoon update, the focus at Koelnmesse has shifted toward one of Saturday’s biggest community events: the gamescom cosplay contest presented by essence.

At the same time, the exhibition floor, creator stages and gaming areas have continued operating throughout the afternoon.

Here is our latest update from 4:30 PM to 7:15 PM CEST.

🎭 17:00 — THE GAMESCOM COSPLAY CONTEST FINAL

The biggest scheduled community event of the afternoon began at 17:00 CEST.

Thirty finalists had previously been selected by the contest jury.

Before the stage show, the finalists went through a detailed pre-judging process, with judges evaluating elements including:

• Costume construction

• Props

• Wigs

• Complexity

• Materials and techniques

• Accuracy

• Makeup

• Overall impression

During the final show, additional factors such as entertainment value, movement, props and presentation were also considered. (Cosplay Contest⁠)

🏆 THE FINAL AWARDS

The competition featured several award categories, including:

Best Costume — 1st Place

Best Costume — 2nd Place

Best Costume — 3rd Place

Best Dress / Needle Work

Best Armor

Best Make-up / Wig

Fan Favorite Live

Fan Favorite Online

The Fan Favorite Live winner was determined through audience reaction, while Fan Favorite Online was decided through an online vote that closed on August 28. (Cosplay Contest⁠)

The winners were scheduled to be announced at the end of the live stage show.

🎨 17:00 — COSPLAY VILLAGE CONTINUES

While the main contest was taking place in Hall 1, the Cosplay Village in Hall 5.1 continued its own programme.

At 17:00, Remute took over the Cosplay Village stage.

A meet-and-greet with Tales off the Script was also scheduled for the same hour. (gamescom⁠)

This meant that cosplay remained one of the most visible parts of the Gamescom experience throughout the evening.

🎮 THE SHOW FLOOR REMAINS ACTIVE

The main gaming areas continued attracting visitors throughout the afternoon.

Xbox remains one of the largest presences at the event, with 25 games and 140 gaming stations available to visitors.

Among the playable titles are:

Fable

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4

Minecraft Dungeons II

METRO 2039

For many visitors, the final weekend is therefore less about watching announcements and more about actually playing the games.

🕕 18:00 — THE FINAL EVENING HOURS

By 18:00, Gamescom had entered the final stretch of Saturday.

The major public areas remained active, while visitors began making their final rounds of the exhibition halls.

The Cosplay Village continued its programme, and the convention’s creator and community stages remained part of the evening schedule.

Gamescom’s Saturday exhibition hours run until 20:00, giving visitors two more hours after the 18:00 point to explore the show floor.

🌆 COLOGNE BECOMES PART OF GAMESCOM

The Gamescom experience also extends beyond Koelnmesse.

The gamescom city festival is taking place in Cologne throughout the weekend, bringing music and entertainment into the city alongside the convention.

This creates a second layer to the event:

Koelnmesse → gaming

Cologne city centre → entertainment

Together they turn the final weekend into a much larger public celebration.

🕖 19:00 — ONE HOUR UNTIL CLOSING

At 19:00, only one hour remains before the main exhibition halls close for Saturday.

For the gaming industry, however, Gamescom 2026 is not finished.

Sunday will bring another public day and the final opportunity for visitors to experience the show before Gamescom closes for another year.
