Presented as an ancient Horadric manuscript, the story follows Deckard Cain as he uncovers a forgotten chapter of Horadric history — one deliberately erased from the surviving records.
Deep beneath ruined sanctuaries, lost archives and sealed tombs lies evidence of a secret Horadric faction known as the Custodians of Silence. Their experiments went far beyond the containment of demons. By studying the principles behind Soulstones, they attempted to preserve memory, identity, knowledge and ultimately the human soul itself.
Cain’s investigation leads from Tristram and the Rogue Monastery to Lut Gholein, Kurast and the frozen lands beyond Harrogath. Along the way he encounters forgotten seals, forbidden archives and the legacy of scholars such as Alethea of Kehjistan, whose work on the mysterious Seventh Vessel may have changed the purpose of the Horadrim forever.
The story also introduces original characters and concepts including Lyra Valen, the Horadric Warden, Cassian, the Penitent, Elias Varen and the enigmatic Malrec — a Horadric scholar whose obsession with preserving consciousness threatens to transform Sanctuary into a vast archive of imprisoned minds.
Designed as a complete Horadric manuscript, this edition combines atmospheric storytelling with full-page illustrations, ancient seals, maps, arcane diagrams, chapter illuminations and parchment-inspired page design.
